About Me
I'm just a Southern city girl. I'm married to a Southern country boy. We've been together 18 years, married 16 years and we have two wonderful, sometimes frustrating, boys. The only daughters I have in my testosterone filled household are a dog and cat.
The type of characters that intrigue me are bold, gritty and deadly, the type of character that offers absolutely no apologies for their less than sterling behavior and would never dream of seeking any type of redemption. They typically have an ego ten miles-wide too, an ego that does not need any stoking.
My elementary English teacher introduced me to the craft of writing over two decades ago. That early introduction spiraled into a lifetime of short stories and poetry. Even those very first stories were all sci-fi or horror related in nature. Two that I recall vividly was one about Atlantis rising from the ocean and the other about a vampire on his honeymoon. In high school, a girlfriend and I used to create characters, writing their lives back and forth like chain letters. With the hormones of teenage rampant in our systems, those definitely had a romantic twist. Having always loved to write, I decided I would try my hand at penning-or rather typing-my own romance. It seemed an easy transition to combine horror elements with the romantic elements.
I am addicted to the powerful drug called writing and sometimes the characters take on a life of their own inside my head, going in directions I wouldn't have originally dreamt. Through my writing I can become characters that I would never dream of being outside of my mind and certainly without the real-world ramifications. I can be gutsy, bold, deadly and really, really passionate. Writing helps me find the peace of being whomever I want, whenever I want and it is the best escape from the overwhelming realities of life. For that, I cannot thank my English teacher enough for introducing me to the deistic power of creation.
I live in Alabama with my testosterone-overdosed family. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and an Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies. Presently, I work from home as a part-time paralegal and a full-time shuttle-bus for my two very active boys.
